Choose your Eevee-lution
Name your Eevee this before evolving if you want its specific evolution:
- "Rainer" → Vaporeon (water)
- "Pyro" → Flareon (fire)
- "Sparky" → Jolteon (electric)
-
CP bar for trainer level
The white arc when you click on a Pokémon shows you how close it was its to max CP for your level when you caught it.
The closer it is to the right, the closer it is to its max wild CP!

-
Save your stardust
Currently, you can only get stardust from catching Pokémon OR from claiming your defender bonus by capturing gyms.
Save stardust for powering up a high CP wild Pokémon. How do you tell if it has a high CP for your level? See Pro Tip #2!
-
Narrowing in on a tracked Pokémon
The Pokémons in the tracker window are ordered such that the closest Pokémon to you is in the top left corner.
If any Pokémon starts moving towards the top left of the tracker, you're probably heading in the right direction!

-
Increasing catch rate with style
Curve balls as well as "nice", "great", and "excellent" tosses increase your chance of catching a Pokémon.
Decreasing the size of the circle when you're catching a Pokémon is still the MOST important!
-
Special attack
A Pokémon has 2 moves: its basic attack and special attack.
When you click on a Pokémon, the first move is its basic attack and the second move is its special attack.
You can use the special attack by holding down on the screen once the blue charge meter at the top has at least 1 bar filled!

-
Attack power
The numbers beside a Pokémon's basic and special attack represent their "attack power".
The higher the "attack power", the more damage the move does each attack.
When choosing which Pokémon to keep, prioritize the basic attack power over the special attack power. Basic attacks are used more often so they accumulate!

-
Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB)
Attacks that are the same type as the Pokémon deal 25% more damage. This is called the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB).
For example, Quick Attack (10-power, normal-type move) on a Rattata (normal-type Pokémon) is the same as a 12.5-power move!
-
Charge meter
The charge meter lets you use your special attack (hold down your screen when at least one bar is filled).
The meter is filled 0.5 for each 1HP of damage dealt. So a super effective move will help you fill the bar faster!
